She is inexpertly released from prison by the Police commissioner who put her there. She must solve the disappearance of the commissioners daughter and granddaughter as payment for her release. Just finished listening to this book. Excellent story about a brother and sister and their love/hate relationship with the house they lived in and were thrown out of by their stepmother after the death of their father. The narrator is Tom Hanks. Brings the story to a whole new level.
